November 2009

A crisp winter's morning

Red sun rising, half moon overhead.

Long shadows shorten

and warmth replaces chill.

A bright day ahead

An end to the night

Hope in my head

A glimmer of light

What lies in front

I know not yet

A cloud? a storm?

I'll take a punt

already a magpie

trouble I bet.

Why oh why must she battle on?

What damage this is causing you my daughter

Childhood gone.

Sweet sweet Harri,

if only you knew the love I carry

my desperate need is to to protect you.

How far i would travel

the things i would do

Just to be at eye level

to have a moment with you.

Your beauty surrounds me

A picture on every wall

All from a time when you loved your daddy.

Now i mean fuck all.

Your mind has been controlled

your heart hardened

Innocence has died

your psyche burdened

I left your mother many years after she left me

I thought we'd always be together

Never ever thinking what would be would be.

If I had known how bitter a scorned wife can be

The lies and woeful patter

The pain, the insanity.

Now it is over. The decision a farce

I'm now sure we'll never recover

You will, like me be locked in the past.

So goodbye my precious

I gave it my all

No chance to explain

Now we'll never know each other at all.
