Endless Desert

I am looking out across a sea of sand

Waves of dunes disappearing to the horizon

The sun dipping to the redding land

So hot even the breeze has gone

I am lucky to be here to witness this moment

when day becomes night

and breathtaking beauty is lost from sight.

The world at least this corner of it is at peace.

Yet all I can think of as I survey this amazing scene

is how you are and where have you been.

Three years on much have I seen
