Letter 2 Aug 2007

Dear H

Last night I went for a walk along the coast as the sun was going down. It set over the cliffs and over Portland harbour where mummy used to work before we met. It painted a beautiful sunset that made the sea and the cliffs glow orange and gold like the picture on the card .

I was strolling up on the cliff tops above Kimmeridge bay and disturbed six hares one after the other. They run so fast and gracefully and are so very shy with such good hearing they are difficult to get close to. Remind you of anyone? I cannot remember seeing hares close to since I was your age and went out shooting and fishing with your granddad. Imagine 6 big hares like the silver one I sent you but each one 3 times the size of Delilah! They were lovely to watch and reminded me of us playing big and little nut brown hare at bedtime.

It doesn’t really matter where I am or what time of day, there is always something that reminds me of you. Yesterday it was hares. The day before it was cycling around the lanes remembering our tandem rides and our spy games. Every night it is missing tucking you in and kissing you goodnight for real ; listening to your ideas and stories and questions.

I hope you got the 2 books through amazon safely and they give you a good read. I could read a few pages as samples on the amazon website and they looked just the sort of thing for after HP6

Always in my thoughts and in my heart

Love Daddy xxx

Every Second Beat If I had a thousand pages, I could never name them all, The reasons that I love you, for the list would be too tall. I love you for the melody, I hear within your voice. The way your blue eyes hold me, a captive, but by choice.

I love you for your gentle hands, that melt away my pain. I love you for your loving heart, that made mine beat again.

I love you for your loving smile, with which my old heart soars. These are some of the reasons, every second beat is yours.
